1.
It’s kind of a mix between pop and r&b
because it’s got quite bright colours at times but then also it’s quite a
‘slow’ music video because usually pop music videos jump out in your face a lot
whereas this one doesn’t as much
2.
I think it’s great. I really like the camerawork
at the beginning. I think it fits the song really well.
3.
I really like the part where the flowers start
to disappear and then at the end of the song where it gets positive again then
they reappear! Also, the editing goes to the beat of the song so that makes the
music video even more enjoyable to watch.
4.
I guess it was good because it was natural and
no ridiculous costumes or a setting which was completely irrelevant to the song
being sung so that was good. And the use brighter and then duller colours was
pretty nice as well
5.
I really like the beginning part where it’s the
shots of the trees because as Ive already said, its fits with the song and also
I like how it ends on the shot of the house and then it continues in her house
I found pretty smart, and also I love those parts where the flowers are
disappearing and reappearing as its symbolic of their love
6.
The part where shes running around on the field
because I don't understand the point of that.
Respondent 2: Female, 63
1.
Pop music, because the girl in the video is
young and associate younger people with pop music. Even though the song has sad
words, it’s quite upbeat.
2.
I loved the shots of the trees and how it was
filmed. Thought it was atmospheric. I liked the angles of when she was lying on
the grass.
3.
The flowers wilting and then coming alive again.
It represented a love that is over and maybe a chance to start again. The words
of the music matched with what she was doing/thinking and so it was edited in
sequence to the song.
4.
I thought the lighting, when she opened the door
to find flowers on the doorstep, matched how she was feeling. I think the props
helped to tell the story.
5.
My favourite part was the flowers wilting and
blossoming again because it represented a love that’s over and that can be
reignited.
6.
My least favourite part was the bit where she
was drinking the booze because it didn’t look real. I thought it would have
been better in a wine glass with fake alcohol that looks real. It would have
been more realistic that she was drowning her sorrows.
Respondent 3: Male, 62
1.
Pop because it sounds upbeat
2.
I think it was excellent because it had nice
angles and everything was in focus.
3.
I thought it was good how the flowers died and
came back to life. It explained what needed to be explained well.
4.
I liked the outside scenes, the greenery and the
scenery but I thought the inside scenery could have been done with better
background, for example, it could have been done on something better than a
kitchen worktop.
5.
My favourite part was when she was outside and
she was singing because the lip syncing was good.
6.
My least favourite part was that there was no
background to the flowers. It would have been better in a bedroom.

9. Would you think of buying this digipak if you saw it in a shop? Why?

11. What do you think about the inserts on the digipak?
Additional Question: What do you think of the back cover?

Respondent 1: Female, 18
7.
What I like about the front cover is how the
writing isn’t right in the middle and you can see that shes holding the rose
and her face which is from the music video. I also like how the title is
noticeable
8.
I would have expected it to have more brighter
colours, so the dullness of the colours I guess
9.
Yeah I would because its an interesting front
cover and I love the sheet with the lyrics
10. Yes since the song is about love and it has a
rose inside and the back of it is pink
11. I like the rose and the colour of the inserts
because they match (the grey and pink) and I like the font used for acknowledgments.
Additional Question: The logos are well placed and the
barcode is in a good place. I like the use of the pink/grey gradient colour
however the track list is not very exciting as it’s just there on the side… but
I do like the font used for the track list. I think it goes well with it all.
Respondent 2: Female, 63
7.
I like it because the angle of her face. I like
the fact that she is looking up and not towards the camera. Her name is very
clearly written. I like her facial expression because it shows she is in
thought. I would be drawn to this album.
8.
I can’t think of anything I don’t like. I think
it’s quite nice.
9.
Not for me because it’s promoting an image of a
younger audience, but I would still be intrigued because it’s very eye
catching.
10. Yes because it’s got pink and a pink rose and
the theme of the song is love. These colours represent love in my opinion.
11. I liked that the lyrics of the song are
included. I also like the rose because it looks like the same rose from the
front cover and so it matches the rest of the digipak. I like the
acknowledgements because it shows gratitude for everyone involved in the making
of it.
Additional Question: I like the logos because it stands out. I
like the track list because it shows you additional songs on this album, but
the main one is wrote under her name so you know that it’s the main song.
Respondent 3: Male, 62
7.
I like Chelsea’s pose and expression. I like the
background because it makes Chelsea stand out. The name stands out well because
it’s across dark colours and the word colouring is light.
8.
I like it all.
9.
If I knew her and her music, it would make me
want to buy it more because of the way its set out. If I didn’t know her, I
would want to listen to it straight away. I’d only buy it if I liked the music
though.
10. Yes because it’s girlish and it’s a girly type
design but it’s very nice.
11.
I think the back part is good because the lyrics
are on there and so you can sing along. I like the acknowledgments.
Additional Question: It’s clearly set out. I think it’s good
that you put copyright, logos and barcode on it.
Magazine Advert
12. What do you like about both advertisements and why?
13. What do you like least about both advertisements and why?
14. Which do you prefer and why?
15. Do you think these advertisements would compel you to buy the album advertised?
16. How well do you think the music video, digipak and magazine advert link together?

Respondent 1: Female, 18
12.
I like how it has the CD cover of it on both of
them and the places where you can listen, like iTunes and Spotify! Also, I like
how the pictures of Chelsea are relating to the music video as that’s what
people memorise the most, so it gets people’s attention
13.
I feel like the cover of the CD and the ‘out
now’ should be more in the centre as it makes it more noticeable there.
14. I prefer the landscape one because it’s nicer to
look at because the portrait one is more just the picture of Chelsea whereas
the mise-en-scene in the second one is much nicer and it would make me want to
check out what the advertisement is advertising
15.
I don’t think the portrait advertisement would
compel me to buy it because it looks like an advertisement for clothes if you
don’t notice the album, rather than an advertisement for the album but I think
the second one would make me want to buy it.
16. It’s all linked well with the theme of those
trees and the outside, and they all include Chelsea so I think they go pretty
well and they’re not exactly the same which is good because then it would make
it all boring
Respondent 2: Female, 63
12. I like the landscape one because of the sun
shining through the trees which gives it a dream like quality. I also liked
that it shows where you can find the song/album. I like that it says ‘out now’
because it shows it’s a new release.
13.
I think when she’s face on to the camera, it
doesn’t seem to go with the lyrics to the song whereas when she’s looking away,
it matches the lyrics more.
14.
I prefer the landscape one better because I
think it looks like she’s thinking about her lost love, which links with the
song. Also, she is reaching up to the branches of the tree like she is in
thought.
15.
If I was buying for a younger person, then this
would compel me to buy this album as it seems like something for an age range
younger than myself, but for me personally, it would not attract me to buy it
to take home for myself.
16. It all linked together well because they all
Chelsea and she is also wearing the same outfit for each media product. The
greenery also links the three media products together and you can also see that
it’s the same setting in each.
Respondent 3: Male, 62
12. It’s clearly Chelsea Watts – Meant To Be. You
can see what the song is on (eg. iTunes).
13.
I don’t like the background of the landscape
one. It doesn’t show Chelsea very well.
14. I prefer the portrait one because its very
clear, it tells you what it is (advertising Meant To Be). The landscape is not
clear enough and does not look like an advert. I do not like that it’s bright
on one side and dark on the other.
15. No because I would only buy due to liking the
song.
16. I think it went well together because Chelsea is
in all of them.
