Magazine Advert

Magazine Adverts for Meant To Be Cover

For our promotional posters, we decided to use a different photo than the CD cover, but something that matched the whole theme of the cover and the music video. The theme is flowers and nature, so we used photos where Chelsea has lots of plants/grass around her. We put the CD cover in the corners of our promotional posters, like some of the examples in our research had. We also put at the bottom the various websites that the song can be bought on, and the company that Chelsea is supposed to be with.

We decided to make two different promotional posters so it can be put anywhere for advertisement.

Our landscape promotional poster will be used for things such as on the side of buses.

We also made a portrait promotional poster, which could be used for adverts in magazines. We used a different picture that was similar to the other. We also put the artist and song name in a different position and also the CD cover.

Both posters could be used for website adverts and other things online.

Digipak and CD Cover

Digipak and CD Cover

We used photoshop to edit our digipak and CD Cover.

For the CD cover, we used a picture of Chelsea with a pink rose. This links the picture to the music video. We also put the artist name and the song name in the same font.

We started with a template for a digipak, so we could put things into place more easily. We then put the CD cover, that we made onto it.

We decided to use similar colours to the album cover, such as pink like the rose and we made the back cover plain and used the same font as the album cover, to put the tracklist. We also put a copyright warning, a barcode and logos for Syco and Sony Music as that's the label we thought Chelsea would be with.

We then did the rest of the digipak. We used a picture of a pink rose to cover three parts of the digipak, one covering the part where the CD goes and the other parts for the place we decided to put the lyrics to.

The final part of the digipak, we used to put the acknowledgments. We used the same background as the back cover.

Magazine Advert Research

Advert Research

We looked up adverts of female singers, as Chelsea is a female singer.

We noticed that the adverts had background pictures that matched with the CD cover. For example...

We also noticed that on some adverts, they put the picture of the album cover, in the corner of the advert.

Digipak and CD Cover Research

Digipak and CD Cover Research

CD Covers

We looked up covers of female singers, as our song was by a female singer. We looked up singers such as Rihanna, Adele and Lady Gaga.

Every cover featured a picture of just the artist. For example...

We also noticed that both the font of the artists name, and the song name, matched. For example...

Some CD Covers also had themes and linked to the music video. For example...

On Cher Lloyd's cover for Activated, her outfit matches with the music video.

Also, Cher Lloyd's cover for Oath matches the colourfulness of the music video.

Digipak

One example digipak we look at was Rihanna's for her album, Loud.

We saw that a picture was used to spread across multiple parts of the digipak.

We also found that most albums have a lyric booklet too. An example of this is Little Mix's album, Get Weird.

Final Media Product

Meant To Be - Chelsea Watts

This is our finished product, Meant To Be by Chelsea Watts:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wue6dCkbFYk

We changed only a few things because of audience feedback, such as titles, credits and one of the transitions, but also added a few finishing touches, such as colour corrections and zooming in on a few clips.

First Draft and Feedback

The First Draft Of Our Music Video

This is the first draft of our music video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWu2BZWyLcY

We got some audience feedback from the video, to see what we could improve and what we could keep the same.

Although some of the feedback said the titles looked nice, they also agreed it wasn't something that would be typically be in a music video, and would more likely be in a movie. If the music video was intended to be like a short movie, like the music video for Black Magic by Little Mix for example, then it would have fit. Unfortunately this was no intended and so we took it out.

The 'movie' titles in Black Magic
We decided to change it to small titles in the corner of the screen, instead of being big and obvious like before. We also put the artist name and song name together instead of separately, like most music videos do when showing the name and artist on music channels.

Similarly, feedback told us that the credits at the end of the music video was more typical for a music video that was based on a movie. We decided to take it out fully.
