We started editing on Monday 10th October and completed it on Friday 21st October (although we had to make some finishing touches after half term). We used iMovie on Mac computers to edit our music video.
As we edited, we tried to keep to the storyboard, but couldn't do it 100% as some of our clips had changed (such as the picture of the dice on the storyboard turned into Chelsea throwing cards instead), and we couldn't put together some clips as we wanted (such as when we wanted someone to fade into the shot. This couldn't be done due to a shaky camera).
Difficulties
We have had a few technical problems whilst editing. At first we lost some of our footage from the Mac and so we had to re upload it to iMovie. Then we had a problem with iMovie as it kept freezing whilst we edited, causing us to have to turn the Mac right off to get it working again. This happened a few times but got worse and worse the longer the music video got and suddenly we couldn't edit at all. We fixed the problem by duplicating our iMovie project. This stopped the project freezing and helped us to edit our music video more quickly.
The Process
Using iMovie on Mac computers, we uploaded our clips onto the computers and put them onto the iMovie library.
We then created a new project on iMovie
And then put the music in the background of the project, so we could line up the video editing to the music.
We used our storyboard to help decide which clips should go where, and how long they should be. We mostly used straight cut transitions but we also sometimes used a fade transition, such as when we wanted the flowers to become less and less, we used a fade transition.
When we finished putting the clips together, we added titles and some finishing touches.
Then we added some other little touches, like colour corrections and zooming.
In between, we had to make a duplicate project of the music video because it kept freezing.
